| Combined State Run Warm Up The Hunt Club enjoyed a lovely day’s hunting Sunday at St Ives South, property of Richard and Susan Trethewey. Master Tony Blight opened the hunt and invited the 12 riders to help him assess the new jumps created at the working bee the previous Friday. What a lovely sight as the 12 riders set off across the first paddock, leaving those in the cars anticipating the spectacle awaiting them on June 8. Subtle changes to the St. Ives South course challenged riders and spectators alike. With the horses nowhere in sight a car load of husbands and Riley took it upon themselves to provide the entertainment, Simon took on the mastership and led his field of Damien, Jamie and Matt successfully over the jump. Proportionally handicapped Riley unfortunately had a refusal. New and old jumps provided for a great hunt with all riders enjoying the new challenge. The crooked horseshoe was awarded to Carly Hammat for a great ride and the wheel was awarded to Simon for adding extra difficulty to the fence jump. Play of the day goes to David and Pud for missing the fence jump completely, but successfully clearing the fence instead. This is an exciting year for the Kangaroo Island Hunt Club who will be hosting the Combined State Hunt at this property on Sunday of the June long weekend. The club looks forward to showing off this great course when approximately 100 mainland spectators, riders and horses make the journey to the Island. On Friday June 6 The Kangaroo Island Hunt Club also hosts a warm up hunt for all visiting hunters and locals at Lyndhurst 1:45 pm all members to bring nibbles. On Saturday night the club will host a formal dinner at Parndana.
